James Beard Foundation School Scholarships


School scholarships are awarded as waivers that will be applied as a credit to the student's account. All applicants must meet the admission and eligibility requirements at the applicable participating schools to be eligible to receive an award.

Students are encouraged to contact schools directly for information regarding their individual curriculum.

Award
One (1) $3,000 waiver toward tuition (excludes airfare, lab fees and room and board) for one semester for Professional Program of Culinary Arts. Student will be responsible for balance of excluded costs (approximately $4,300) prior to arrival.

Beginning levels:
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be fluent in English.

Non-beginning levels:
The above criteria plus applicants must provide a résumé specifying a minimum of six months of professional culinary experience, and have successful performance on both an examination and practical test before the start of the term.

Award
Up to one (1) waiver of $5,000 toward tuition and housing per academic year will be granted to a student enrolled in a full-time course of study for either the 21-month Associate's Degree Program or the 38-month Bachelor's Degree Program. The award is renewable for up to three years (for a total of $20,000) or until a bachelor's degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance. Renewal is contingent on the recipient maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.2/4.0 scale.
